PDF in. UBL out.

Turn PDF invoices into UBL 2.1 without retyping a thing

We connect to your existing system, convert each PDF to Peppol BIS Billing 3.0, send it over the Peppol network, report it to the Slovak tax authority and return the status to your application. You only review the fields the OCR is unsure about.

Registration takes about 2 minutes. Running an ERP and need an integration? Book a consultation.

Delivery, reporting and status back to you

In short: send a PDF and ePošťák prepares a valid UBL 2.1 document from it. It extracts the invoice data automatically, flags uncertain fields for review and checks the EN 16931 and Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 rules. Sending over Peppol can follow as the next automated step.

See how ePošťák extracts a PDF invoice

OCR reads the customer, line items and totals. You review the data and the invoice goes out as a Peppol e-invoice.

From PDF to status in your app. All handled for you.

No need to deal with the format, the network or the reporting. ePošťák covers the invoice's whole journey and you see the result.

  1. 1. We connect to your system

ePošťák connects to your ERP or invoicing system via API, SFTP or e-mail and picks up PDF invoices on its own. No system yet? Simply upload the PDF in the mailbox.

  2. 2. We convert the PDF to Peppol BIS 3.0

OCR extracts the supplier, customer, line items, amounts and VAT and assembles UBL 2.1 from them. You review only the fields it is unsure about.

  3. 3. We send it over the Peppol network

After validation against EN 16931 and Peppol BIS 3.0, ePošťák checks the recipient on the network and delivers the invoice through its own Access Point.

  4. 4. We report it to the tax authority

As a certified digital postman, ePošťák reports sent invoices to the Slovak tax authority from the day the mandate starts. You have nothing extra to send or fill in.

  5. 5. We send the status back to your app

Sent, delivered or rejected. You see the status and the delivery confirmation in the mailbox, and it also returns to your system through the API or a webhook.

PDF, UBL XML and Peppol are not the same thing

A PDF is a visual document, UBL is a data format and Peppol is a network with its own rules and addressing. A real conversion process has to handle all three layers.

The ePošťák solution

ePošťák does the technical work for you

Instead of retyping, ePošťák extracts the data from a PDF or an image, prepares UBL 2.1 and shows what needs confirmation. After your review it produces a validated document, ready for further processing or for sending over Peppol.

For ERP vendors and integrators the process can be connected through the API. For larger volumes we set up batch processing, a review queue, statuses, duplicate protection and retention of the original PDF within the agreed scope.

Automatic where possible. Review only where needed.

ePošťák handles routine data automatically. It asks for confirmation only when content is unclear or missing.

  • Unclear VAT

A zero rate alone does not tell whether it is an exemption, reverse charge, export or another category.

  • Missing recipient

A PDF may not contain a Peppol ID. The recipient has to be identified correctly and checked on the network.

  • Poor-quality scan

Blurred characters, stamps, tables and wrapped lines raise the risk of confusing digits and amounts.

  • Credit note or self-billing

The document type changes the XML structure, the parties to the transaction and the rules, so it cannot be guessed from appearance alone.

  • Totals that do not add up

The sum of lines, discounts, charges, VAT and rounding must be consistent both mathematically and semantically.

Questions about converting PDF to UBL

Can a PDF invoice be converted directly to Peppol XML?

Yes. ePošťák extracts the invoice data from the PDF, prepares it for review and, once you confirm, creates UBL 2.1 XML validated against EN 16931 and Peppol BIS Billing 3.0. Depending on your settings, the result can then be sent over Peppol.

Is XML created automatically from a PDF always error-free?

ePošťák automates both the extraction and the transformation and leaves uncertain fields for confirmation. Review focuses only on data the OCR cannot determine reliably, such as an unclear VAT category or a missing Peppol ID.

What XML format does Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 use?

Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 uses UBL Invoice 2.1 for invoices and UBL CreditNote 2.1 for credit notes. It builds on the European standard EN 16931 and adds the rules, identifiers and code lists needed for interoperability on the Peppol network.

Is it enough to create UBL XML and e-mail it?

Not for a flow that is meant to be delivered over Peppol. Creating and validating the XML solves the document format; delivery requires a Peppol Access Point, a check of the recipient on the network and tracking of the transmission result.

Is the original PDF invoice retained?

It depends on the chosen integration and archiving mode. When designing the solution you need to state explicitly whether the original PDF is kept as the source document, attached to the UBL or archived separately. The conversion itself does not automatically mean Peppol delivery or proof of it.

Does ePošťák offer a public PDF converter without registration?

This page is not a public upload form. ePošťák handles PDF extraction and preparation of structured data as part of an agreed API or company workflow, in which review, validation, delivery and handling of the source document are set up.

Updated 2 October 2026. Peppol rules and Slovak requirements may change; a production flow must use the current version of the validation rules.
